I'm not huge into the whole prop thing, but I've seen this done really well a few times, so I decided to try it out. My next newborn shoot was twins, so not only was I excited about the nest, but I was really excited to shoot twins. Fortunately they both fit! I was incredibly happy with the results but since the photos were for Christmas presents I had to wait until after Christmas to post them! Here are the gorgeous twins Alexis and Lea.

Isis Photography, right from when we started out has always preferred that our clients end up with an album. It’s important to us and here’s why.

TOUCH YOUR MEMORIES - Having something tangible in your hands to treasure will never lose it’s appeal. Your albums real value will become apparent (although of course it’s great to look at now as well) in 20, 30 or even 40 years time when you can relive your wedding day like it was yesterday. Then your album will be the catalyst for your memories that otherwise may be gone.
PAPER OVER PIXELS - Digital media is all well and good but pixels are just pixels (the things digital photographs are made of in case you were scratching your head there) whose permanence is not yet known (remember floppy discs and zip drives?). In our opinion, it seems strange to spend all that money and effort and then at the end of it have a corruptible, soon to be outdated, plastic disc that holds some of the most precious memories you will ever have. Let’s face it digital media is still in it’s infancy where as the printed page is well into it’s third millennium.

Romp to Stomp - Ontario

Scenic Caves - Romp to Stomp

For those of you who can't wait you can see some of the group photographs from today's Romp here. (To get your free copy you need to buy (it costs $0) the image and then follow the online instructions. The download button is for people who have commercial accounts and is not applicable for these.)

This is the 5th year of the Romp to Stomp at Scenic Caves. In that time over $100,000 has been raised for the fight against breast cancer. Today over $32,000 was added to that total on a glorious winters day that saw the winner of the race over the line in a little over 16 minutes. The winning fund rasers were the The Naughty Pink Ladies of Blue who raised over $6,000 between the 8 team members and the Best Dressed prize went to Frannies Hot Hikers for Healthy Hooters. Here's a couple of shots from the event with more to follow.

In our first article about where to get married in Georgian Bay we look at one of our favourite locations to be married Cobble Beach Golf Links.

Cobble Beach is beautiful place for a wedding. Located a few miles north of Owen Sound on the shores of Georgian Bay it is one of the places to get married in that part of the world and for good reason.

Cobble Beach Golf Links is a course that has won a number of awards from Golf Digest, Travel + Leisure Golf, Ontario Golf, Fairways and SCOREGolf, which is a pretty good indication of its pedigree. That said, one of the many things we love about this venue is that even though it is a golf course, weddings are not seen as an inconvenience to be endured as they are at so many golf venues. When we are there for a wedding it’s about the wedding and not the golf.

In basement of the club house there is great spa which provides all the necessary facilities for beautification that brides and bridesmaids may need. It also has 10 rooms which are well appointed and have some of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in. Actually funny story. After the first time we stayed at Cobble Beach when it came time to buy a new bed, we got the same bed! And yes we have a problem some mornings getting up. More importantly though this means that the bride and groom, immediate family and the wedding party can stay at the venue. It’s always lovely when you don’t have to travel too far to find your bed after a hard day of getting married.

Isis Photography is 5 Yrs Old Today!

Celebrating 5 years of business

Unbelievably five years ago today we signed Isis Photography into life as a partnership between Christa and myself. In that time we have shot almost 335,000 photographs. Those photographs were of 84 weddings in five countries (admittedly more on one than the other four), over 100 family and baby portrait sessions, 11 covers for On the Bay magazine as well as various assignments for the magazine. We’ve also raised money for the Georgian Bay Animal Rescue Centre with our annual Dogs Day, supported the CIBC Run for the Cure as well as The Tubbs Romp to Stomp. Some how in all that we managed to have our son Oscar, travel to Cuba, England twice and South Africa once. So it’s been a busy but rewarding five years.

Looking forward we are excited to continue our support of the charities we shoot for, continuing our relationship with On The Bay magazine, shooting more weddings and expanding our portrait business to include more lifestyle portraits as well as bringing Isis Photography back to being a home based studio.

Over the coming months we will be launching a number of competitions and doing some give away’s to celebrate our 5th birthday as well as developing a photography project that should be very worthwhile. So watch this space.

Thank you to all our clients and supporters over the last five years. It’s because of you we have been so successful and we look forward to working with you all in the future.

Happy New Year!

It's that time, the end of one year and the beginning of another. It's a time for contemplation and a time for anticipation, a time for promises and plans for yourself and others. And in that spirit we have made lots of plans for ourselves and for Isis which we are very excited about.

One change we can share with you now is that we are moving. After having had the pleasure of a studio on Pine Street for 2 years we've decided to move Isis back to being a home based operation and convert part of the house to a studio. This is mainly because for the last year we've been working in different places, Christa from home (being a super mum, looking after Oscar and working full time) and Richard from the studio. This isn't ideal as we work best when we are together and we want to share looking after Oscar as he becomes more active, so Isis will be back at Downer Street from the end of February. There are other plans afoot but we'll keep those under wraps for now. Watch this space.

Anyway, we'd like to take this opportunity to wish all our clients, friends and supporters a very Happy New Year. Thank you and here's hoping that 2012 is a great year full of peace, happiness and prosperity.

We love doing pre-wedding shoots. It's a chance to get to know couples, see how they photograph, how they are with each other, for them to see how we work and because it's all about the photography. Which is is nice because on their wedding day the most important thing isn't the pictures... it's also an opportunity for us to show couples that they are in good hands and that means one less thing to worry about on their wedding day.
