ISPWP - What does that stand for?

The ISPWP, or International Society of Portrait and Wedding Photographers, has been around for a while. Earlier in the year we were accepted into the ranks of the Society.  You can read more about what they do here, but in short it's a society whose main goal is to raise the standards of wedding photography.  It's an exclusive club with strict criteria for joining.  Currently there are  about 600 professional photographers  from around the world so it is an exciting place to be.

Each quarter there is a competition where members enter images from weddings they have shot. Of course competitions are always subjective but one of the things that drew us to wanting to join the ISPWP was the quality of the photography and this is evident in these competitions.   We were pretty happy to be in the top 20 of 2 categories with 2 of our images which you can see below.

This image from Davis and Maggie's Wedding at the Estates of Sunnybrook earlier this year was placed 15th in the First Dance category.

This image from Courney and Stefan's wedding in Niagara on the Lake in January was awarded 20th Place in the Bridal Party Portrait category.

There's still a long way to go and these results do not mean we'll be resting on our laurels anytime soon.  But by striving to do better in competitions like this it makes us work hard at improving our photography and keeps us on our toes. On the other hand it could be that we're super shallow and need the accolades to feed our ego. Either way it's a good thing.  If you'd like to see all the entries to the competition and see what we are up against then you can see the galleries here.
